Introduction of the Next-generation Technical Development Groups

The MRC Center was opened on May 1, 2000. One of its purposes
is to seek new markets that have potentiality for THK, for instance
in mechatronics and robotics. Another purpose is to create and
develop systems and products with new capabilities by making
full use of computer technologies. As the first step, under
the slogan "From Motion to Emotion," we have been developing
a control system whose movements can impress people, In April
2002, we released Mister C
Motion Designer, a controlling software whose core technology
is clothoid spline interpolation and smartcam motor control.
We also released the THK
Open Control System, which applies the great powers of the
personal computer to control machines. With the cooperation
of several servomotor manufacturers, we have created a system
that operates servomotors directly by use of general-purpose
interfaces such as USB and IEEE1394. Through such efforts, we
continue to develop various kinds of software.

The ACE Division was formed in December 2001. Its basic philosophy
is "Let's seek comfort in the technical development of original
living spaces." A business that exemplifies this concept well
is earthquake- proofing. Our earthquake-proof guide is a tool
that protects people's safe and comfortable living environment.
The earthquake-proof guide is used in a variety of buildings,
such as skyscrapers, hospitals, apartment buildings, shrines,
temples, and ordinary houses, and it helps to protect not only
lives, but also precious possessions. We also develop technologies
that fulfill the dreams of developers, construction companies,
architects, and designers, who aim for high- level fusion of
comfort and originality in living spaces. For example, by using
THK-unique technologies such as the LM guide, decorative doors
in the entrance of luxurious apartments and intelligent buildings
are made strong and secure with no sacrifice of design appeal.
