Releasing "products of excellence" in order
to further create "products of excellence."
Japan is often said to be a technologically advanced country
and established its powerful economy through these technologies.
It is true that Japan has been recognized as having excellent
technologies and is highly regarded for its craftsmanship.
However, it is also true that there was a time when "Made
in Japan" was a mark of poor quality products. Overcoming
this negative stigma and bringing about the current image
of an outstandingly high quality and productive country could
not have been achieved without the sprit of engineers and
the accumulation of technological innovations such as the
machinery which supported the productivity.
In order to proudly launch "products of excellence,"
such as automobiles and electronics into the global market,
excellence must be an inherent part of the production process.
It is one of THK's tasks to support the production process
and raise its products to a higher level of excellence.
In fact, THK's main brand "LM Guide" is a technology
that changed the way Japan manufacturers products. By utilizing
the LM Guide, dramatic technological progress was introduced
to machine tools (particularly to mother machines such as
the lathe and milling cutting board). The LM Guide also makes
it possible to process metal materials precisely according
to design, and in conducting multiple processes simultaneously
with high precision, thus making a significant contribution
to the improvement of productivity. Currently we are developing
a technology to implement these sophisticated processes coupled
with computer systems, aiming to provide further improvements
to precision and flexibility in the production process.

One of the representative products which
are supported by these technologies is semiconductor manufacturing
equipment. In this equipment, THK's technologies, such as "SRS"
and "Miniature Ball Screws," are utilized. The semiconductor
is an extremely small product itself, thus, its production equipment
must be capable of creating tremendously small movements, one
ten thousandth of 1 mm. By achieving the technology which can
control precision small movements, it became possible to provide
high quality semiconductors for IT related products.
THK technologies are playing active roles in a wide range of
productive fields, from extremely small production processes
in units of micros or seconds such as electronic component insertion
machines, which install IC and other electronic components in
the electric circuit boards of mobile phones and digital cameras,
and industrial robotic transfer systems to larger scale and
more powerful production processes.
High quality products cannot be created without the excellent
supportive tools that produce them. THK promises to continue
supporting future productive innovation through our technologies.
