In recent years ramps for wheelchairs have become standard for access to commercial and public facilities. However, if the slope is relatively long for a small difference in height, these ramps can be inconvenient for carers.
Some modern wheelchairs have four retractable lift arms in addition to their wheels, so it can also be used to go up steps. THK's Ball Screw Model BTK and Slide Rail FBL are used in the lift arm mechanisms.
