THK Expands its Medium Torque Ball Spline Series LF with New Sizes LF80 and LF100
THK has expanded its proven Ball Spline Series LF with two new sizes – LF80 and LF100 – enabling the use of these components in applications with the highest mechanical demands.

Ball splines are used in applications where both linear motion and torque transmission are required. Smooth operation and high precision are ensured by the balls, which circulate in up to six ball tracks running in precisely ground grooves between the nut and the shaft.
The Model LF features a flanged design that allows direct attachment to housing structures, simplifying installation and ensuring high accuracy. This construction is particularly beneficial in applications where keyway machining would weaken the housing or where compact installation is critical. With the possibility of inserting a dowel pin into the flange, angular backlash at the fitting can be eliminated — a key advantage for precision applications.
With the addition of the new sizes, THK now covers shaft diameters ranging from 6 to 100 mm, enabling the transmission of permissible static torques from 1.96 to 3010 Nm. The permissible static load ratings range from 2.16 to 195 kN.
With these performance characteristics, the ball spline series LF are ideally suited for use in pick-and-place systems, gantry robots in automation and handling technology, as well as in robotic arms and feed units in robotics.
