Outfitted with Original THK Components, the LSR-06 Takes to the Streets of Tokyo: Testing Our Cutting-Edge Technology for EVs with Linear Motion Parts

For the first time, THK CO., LTD. (Location: Minato, Tokyo; President: Takashi Teramachi; hereinafter referred to as “THK”) has taken to the streets of Japan to test the performance of its technology in the form of the LSR-06, an EV equipped with THK's experimental Active Level Control Suspension parts.

The LSR-06, which was road tested in Graz, Austria, in fall 2025 and serves as the successor to the LSR-05 showcased at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show and the 2024 Paris Motor Show, represents the future of mobility driven by advanced EV technology. Its design was crafted by SN DESIGN PLATFORM (Representative Director and CEO: Shiro Nakamura), who worked hand in hand with THK to make it the manifestation of a new vision for the mobility of the future.

Advanced EV Technology Tested on Public Roads

Active Level Control Suspension: ALCS

ALCS

This system uses a THK ball screw/spline to enable vehicle height adjustments and attitude control according to the roughness of the road and the driver’s steering.
The active suspension automatically lowers the vehicle when a person gets in or out to prevent discomfort and to make daily driving more convenient. It lowers the height of the vehicle when traveling at high speeds to reduce air resistance, and it can even raise the car's height when off-roading or driving over bumps. Original software developed by THK is also installed to enable high-speed and high-precision control of the active suspension.

MR Fluid Active Damper Tube: MRDT

MRDT

THK offers seismic isolation technology in the form of rotary dampers that utilize ball screws along with a viscous element that absorbs and dampens tremors. Combining this product technology with MR fluid allows the damping power of the suspension to be controlled electronically to absorb vibrations and facilitates coordination with the ALCS, which controls vehicle height.

THK will continue to use its expertise as a machine component manufacturer to provide EV parts imbued with the latest technology and to help spur the creation of a new mobility-oriented society.
