THK CO., LTD. (Location: Minato, Tokyo; President: Takashi Teramachi; hereinafter referred to as “THK”) has revised the DN value of all sizes of its high-speed, compact precision ball screw models SDA-V/VZ and SDAN-V/VX to 180,000.

In response to increased demand for high-speed performance in recent years, we performed a number of high-speed durability tests using SDA series products with high DN values. Although the DN values of precision ball screw models SDA-V/VZ and SDAN-V/VX were previously set at 160,000, we have now increased their DN values to 180,000 to reflect their true potential that was revealed by this testing. This revision gives customers more choices when it comes to meeting high-speed requirements for their devices and applications.

At THK, we will continue to use the technology and know-how we have cultivated as a top manufacturer of linear motion guides to develop and provide products suited to our customers' needs.

What is a DN value?
The DN value is an indicator of whether components making up the ball circulation path within the ball screw can be used without sustaining damage. It is critical to select a product with an appropriate DN value to avoid exceeding the permissible value specified for each model during use. The DN value is obtained from the following formula.

* The maximum permissible rotational speed is 5,000 min^-1

Features
Models SDA-V/VZ are high-speed, compact precision ball screws featuring screw shafts with diameters ranging from ø10 to ø50 and leads from 4 mm to 60 mm. The nut shape is compliant with ISO, DIN, and JIS standards, and it can be used for high-speed feeding. Model SDA-V features caged balls, and Model SDA-VZ is the Full-Ball version.

Models SDAN-V/VX are high-speed, compact precision ball screws with a preload applied by the double-nut structure. The two nuts also increase the rigidity of the product, making it compatible with devices that handle heavy loads. Model SDAN-V features caged balls, and Model SDAN-VX is the Full-Ball version.
