Regeneration resistors are used to convert regeneration energy produced during motor deceleration into heat.
Regeneration energy can usually be absorbed by the driver's internal smoothing capacitor, but if it exceeds the capacitor's limit due to load weight or operating conditions, an external regeneration resistor is required.
