Are there any precautions to follow during inching and use in minute strokes?
The oil film might be broken by inching and minute strokes, and defective lubrication might cause early wear (called "fretting corrosion"). In environments such as this, there are no measures for completely preventing fretting corrosion from occurring. However, the following can delay its occurrence. - Insert overstroke in the program at a fixed timing periodically to form an oil film on the ball. - Use grease that has excellent oil film strength and wear resistance and that allows an oil film to be easily formed. (THK grease AFC and AFJ have excellent properties.) - Other possible measures include forced lubrication using oil. Contact THK for details.
