Point of Selection Selection flow based on function conditions
The following flowchart should be used as a guide for selecting a Linear Bushing.
- 1
Setting Conditions
- Stroke length: LS
- Velocity: V
- Magnitude of the applied load: W
- Mounting space
- Operating frequency (duty cycle)
- Required service life
- Dimensions (No. of nuts, shafts, span)
- Installation direction
- Environment
- Accuracy
-
2
Selecting a Type
Select a type that meets the service conditions from the classification table for Linear Bushings and temporarily decide a rough size.
-
3
Examining Strength of the Shaft (Examining the LM Shaft Strength)
- Estimating the shaft diameter
- Estimating the shaft length
- Method for fixing the shaft
- Permissible load of the shaft
- Displacement(deflection) of the shaft
- 4
Predicting the Service Life
Calculate the applied load and obtain the nominal life from the life calculation formula.
-
Comparison with the
required service lifePASS: Proceed to "5. Determining the Accuracy."
FAIL: Return to "1. Setting Conditions." - 5
Determining the Accuracy
Select an accuracy grade
- 6
Selection According to the Environment
- Determining a lubricant
- Determining a lubrication method
- Determining a surface treatment
- Designing contamination protection
* Please refer to the lubrication, surface treatment, and contamination protection sections on the linear bushing options page.
