Industrial Machinery Business
We have continued to expand the scale of our business by supplying LM Guides and other products that are essential components of industrial machinery such as machine tools and semiconductor production equipment. In addition, we are actively engaged in the manufacture and sale of electric actuators and unit products that combine many machine elements. In this manner, we are bringing increased precision, rigidity, and speed to the industrial machinery field, while at the same time addressing automation needs at the production line.

We are committed to cultivating opportunities in consumer goods-related fields, such as seismic isolation and damping systems, medical equipment, aerospace, robotics, and renewable energy, as part of our efforts to promote the development of new business areas. To this end, we draw on the underlying strengths of our accumulated core linear motion system technology and ample expertise in the industrial equipment field. The applications of our compact and highly rigid products have expanded into many fields where they help people live safe and comfortable lives.
Automotive & Transportation Business
We develop and supply automotive components that support the basic functions of automobiles as a part of our Automotive & Transportation Business activities. We strive to make our mark as a supplier by promptly addressing changes in the global automotive market. In addition to the L&S (Linkage and Suspension) business we have worked to develop since our establishment, we are accelerating our efforts to expand the use of linear motion components in a variety of mechanisms such as next-generation steering, braking, and suspension systems.

3. Overview
Project title: Proposal of a new application utilizing THK products
- We will explain the technology behind our linear motion components as well as show examples of its major applications.
- You will think up and propose a new application for the THK product based on either 1) a societal problem in either your home country or the world, or 2) an automation or improvement to machine performance that could lead to a business opportunity.
- You will gain knowledge in linear motion technology as well as gain experience in application development.
4. Schedule / program
- Remote preparation (7 days)
- We will explain via Skype about our products and their applications. (2 days) *We will lend you product samples.
- You will explore new application ideas and prepare a proposal. (5 days) *We will answer questions you have via email or Skype.
- Interim review (2 days)
- We will review your new application proposal and provide professional advice.
- Proposal details (16 days)
- After approval of the new application proposal, you will do a technical investigation, draw diagrams, and do strength calculations, etc.
- To the extent possible, you will also do cost calculations and market research.
- Final proposal (1 day)
- Executive members, the technical division, and HR will review your proposal.
- Reflective report (1 day)
- You will write a report reflecting on your entire internship experience.
5. Qualifications
- Must be studying mechanical or electrical engineering and specializing in the automotive or mechatronic field.
*Preferably have hands-on experience designing and constructing device on own. - Must expect to graduate with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree by spring 2021.
- Must have 3.0 GPA or equivalent (B's and above).
- Must have business-level proficiency in English or Japanese.

Qualifications

Develop new next-generation automotive products that utilize our linear motion technology for autonomous and electric vehicles.

Qualifications
- Must have researched and gained in-depth knowledge of a field of study related to at least one of the above job responsibilities.
- Must have studied mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, or computer science with specialization and research focused in the automotive or mechatronic field.
- Experience using 3D CAD to design a device and then assemble it
- Experience wiring own device (motor, driver, controller, sensor, etc.) and operating it
- Experience using MATLAB Simulink
