Our Philosophy

At THK, we believe that occupational health and safety are foundational to an organization’s operations. For this reason, the Production Division has taken up the challenge of creating a safe, pleasant environment that is easy to work in as one of its most important tasks, and it strives to eliminate any harmful elements of the workplace environment that could contribute to illness or injury. It pursues these aims through the following initiatives.

Preventing work-related injuries and illnesses

  • Performing risk assessments
  • Conducting workplace health and safety training
  • Conducting hazard prediction training and near-miss activities

Continuously improving occupational health and safety performance

  • Communicating and managing up-to-date information about relevant laws (performing chemical substance risk assessments)
  • Promoting Health and Safety Committee activities
  • Performing internal audits and management reviews
  • Implementing traffic safety activities
  • Conducting workplace safety patrols

THK also engages in a number of initiatives to support employee mental and physical health as part of our efforts to provide the vibrant and healthy workplace environments that are foundational to talent development. To provide employees with better work-life balance, we provide support for balancing work with childcare and elderly care as well.

Promoting mental health Receiving guidance from industrial physicians and implementing disease prevention activities Performing regular and special health checks Managing long work hours (excessive overtime) Support for balancing work with childcare and elderly care
Conducting stress checks of all employees An industrial physician inspects the workplace and provides guidance at the Health and Safety Committee meeting Conducting regular health checks in addition to special health checks for specific individuals at each production facility Work hours are managed by each location and monitored by the headquarters Distribution of a support handbook for balancing work with childcare and elderly care

Workplace Injury Prevention

A total of 16 workplace injuries occurred across THK Japan in 2025, five fewer than the 21 we had in 2024.
In 2025, we promoted the following initiatives.

  • 1. Each plant where a workplace injury had occurred within the last three years was visited to confirm the nature and continued application of countermeasures.
  • 2. Heat stroke countermeasure management rules were established and implemented at each plant in response to heat stroke-related workplace injuries that occurred in 2024 and revisions to heat-stroke related laws.
  • 3. The Health and Safety Committee and monthly meetings of its secretariat were used to raise awareness, and information about workplace injury events was shared with each plant.

Work-Life Balance Survey

THK Japan conducted a work-life balance survey focused on childcare, elderly care, and medical leave to gauge employee opinion around topics such as how work-life balance is understood in the workplace, how childcare and elderly care leave are perceived, and concerns about balancing work and medical leave. A total of 2,490 employees participated.
We will analyze the results of the survey more thoroughly going forward to help formulate and implement activities aimed at creating a more flexible and vibrant workplace.
