THK’s Value Chain
THK promotes a variety of initiatives with a deep awareness of the way our activities impact our value chain.
Sales and After-Sales Service
We combine mechanical components, mechatronics, and IoT/edge computing services to provide customers with high-added-value products and solutions.
Using our global sales network, we do more than just provide products. We help customers improve their productivity and efficiency and we create next-generation value by building systems that maximize the added value we provide through interactions with our customers.
Our global maintenance and technical support network gathers information about causes of failures and opportunities for improvement that is then fed back into new product design and quality improvement practices. This allows us to offer customers longer service life and more stable operation for their equipment. By leveraging the IoT and status monitoring services to analyze machine operation data, we are even able to provide customers with predictive failure detection and suggestions for optimal maintenance activities.
With all of these efforts focused on reducing customer downtime and boosting their productivity, we continue to strive for ever greater customer satisfaction.

Discovering Challenges and Proposing Solutions
Our greatest strengths lie in our diverse lineup of products that provide high quality, long service life, high rigidity, and high accuracy as well as in our proposal-based sales structure that leverages industry-relevant knowledge and experience.
The feedback structures we have put in place ensure that our development division is quickly informed of emerging customer needs, which spurs the creation of new products and solutions.
Our customers’ challenges are ever changing and increasingly varied. By analyzing their needs with greater accuracy, we are able to generate and discover new value for them. We combine mechanical components, mechatronics, and IoT/edge computing services to provide customers with high-added-value products and solutions that address their specific needs, be they machine builders or machine users.
These factors enable us to help customers reach their maximum potential for growth and allow us to respond to changing market conditions from a position of strength.

Research and Development
THK has two research and development facilities, one in Japan and one in China, and we are constantly striving to further develop our fundamental technologies through the work done by our Fundamental Technology Research Department. This allows our organization to develop greater expertise in various technical fields so that we can enhance the quality of existing products while quickly developing new ones.
Because we consider it a strength to have a large number of employees with expertise in a wide range of fields, THK uses graduate school and PhD program curricula to develop talent (fellows) possessed of noteworthy skills related to product development. We also encourage exchanges between technical experts within and beyond THK to create fertile ground for innovative ideas.
Additionally, by judiciously protecting our intellectual property rights within and outside of Japan, acquiring rights that align with our business strategies, and conducting various surveys and analyses, we have created a firm foundation for supporting sustainable growth going forward.
In all, we secure our competitive advantage through a thorough design cycle focused on customers’ unique needs, adapting our core technologies to give rise to products and services with new and better functionality.
Procurement
THK continues to promote both global and regionally optimized procurement as well as the utilization of DX. Through these efforts, we are creating a procurement structure optimized for making competitively priced products.
We establish robust, positive relationships with our suppliers by maintaining clarity around the terms of the business we conduct together, entering into legally sound contracts with them, and meeting with them regularly to share information and exchange ideas.
All of these practices contribute to a more efficient and sustainable supply chain that allows us to reliably provide our customers with products that satisfy their needs.

Production
As we aim to shorten lead times by producing in areas of demand, we continue to strengthen our overall global production structure. This means that, in addition to adding production capacity in each region, we are also making strides toward full-scale automation that organically combines robots and production equipment with human knowledge. At the same time, we are also taking action to be more environmentally conscious in our production activities by reducing our energy consumption, introducing solar power generation, and pursuing other related initiatives.
In order to pass on the technical skills that make up production craftsmanship backed by years of experience, we have implemented a skill management system that allows us to centrally manage production floor skills, certifications, and experience while driving cross-training programs. We also maintain a comprehensive quality assurance system with a global perspective for the sake of providing all our customers with safe and reliable products. Our facilities within and outside of Japan maintain ISO 9001/ IATF 16949 certification for their quality management systems.
These efforts allow us to consistently provide products of the highest quality to customers around the world, further strengthening trust in the THK brand.
